It’s been a while since I last posted, and there have been a few changes in my life. Well, really, there’s this one big change, and it dwarves everything else.

I quit my job, and I’m now a full time writer.

I still don’t make anywhere near enough money to make a living from my writing, but I quit anyway. Fortune smiled at me, and she gave me an opportunity too good to pass up.
It’s been quite a while that I’ve been dreaming of leaving the job to just write. I’ve not dared. It’s felt risky and unsafe. I was so comfortable where I was.

Now though, stuff happened, and for the time being I don’t need to worry about money. I can take the risk. So I did.

I’m stupidly, incredibly, unbelievable fortunate.

I can quit my job and do what I love. Even if it’s just for a while, I know I’d regret it for the rest of my life I didn’t do it. So that’s where I am right now.

Sort of.

There’s more.

It’s not quite as big and game changing as the above, but it still bears mentioning.

So, here goes…

ld5 - silver skin 2I finished the second draft of Lost Dogs #5, and I sent it off to my beta reader. It will need quite a bit of work to get it in shape for publishing, but after reading the story myself over the past two days, I feel like it’s in a good shape. I’ll be able to fix the issues, and I’ll be able to release a story I can be proud of.

I also did a cover image for the new book. I’m not completely sold on it, but it’s good enough I probably won’t be tinkering more with it. It works – and it does look pretty cool even if I do say so myself.

I’ve started experimenting with advertising. Reasonably, I shouldn’t be expecting any success right away, but I can’t help but hope. I’ve got a number of campaigns running on Amazon, and I made myself a nice graphic for a Facebook ad campaign. It’s still quite early, and I can’t say how well any of that is going to work out, but if I’m going to try and make a living out of writing, I need to figure out how to get people to pick up my books.

Finally, and not all that interesting, I decided to take part in a writer’s challenge on Instagram, and the first assignment was to share my writing goals for the new year.

All in all, it’s a very exciting time to be me, and I’m really looking forward to see what the future has in store. Will this ship float, or will it sink?

Enar’s Vacation? Children’s books? Jen’s story? – Don’t worry, I’ll be getting back to that in due time.
